English summary: The Basilica Aemilia in the Forum Romanum belongs by reason of its location, size and decorations to the most important buildings of ancient Rome. In comparison to most of buildings the basilica is especially well preserved, though only poorly investigated. For the present volume are the preserved parts of the imperial period building collected and documented. On this basis the study succeeds in providing a very detailed reconstruction of the building, its development and history. One's attention is directed in particular to the effort and meaning of the building's decoration, which is understood especially with respect to the use of space and the context of urban planning.
