The diplomatic system was born out of the need for communication and collaboration, and knowledge of the other. The history of events andof diplomatic practices that is associated with international relations is seen through the lens ofall condititions of diplomatic life, instruments, resources and limitations of the time. From diplomatic preponderance to European balance, the history of diplomacy and international relations is transposed in the socio-economic, religious and political context of XVII-XVIII centuries. This book is both a cross-sectional analysis and also a longitudinal one on diplomacy and international relations in Europe. On the one hand, European diplomacy is addressed through the concepts, structures and trends recorded during the two centuries. The evolution of negotiation practices andof the conditions of diplomatic work is central to this analysis. On the other hand, through a diachronic analysis, international relations are grouped according to diplomatic preponderance or to European balance. The book can be useful to specialists and researchers in the field of history of international relations, to instructors and students alike.
