The dynamics of customary marriage set up in a country which has more than 73 Ethnic groupings is not only fascinating but, is also challenging to regulate. The pressure created on customary marriage in the light of continuous social changes and inter-marriages can no longer be ignored. However, the cultural practices and norms without being written as law create both negative and positive impact on the rights and duties of parties involved under customary marriage which gives rise to a number of disputes. This book therefore can be used as a reference on the need to harmonise some key cultural values to help balance the advantages and disadvantages of cutomary marriages cutting across all ethnic groupings.
