Stomatognathic system of human body composed of tmj, masticatory muscles and teeth. This system is involved in chewing, swallowing, mastication and speech. Any change in these components leads to abnormal function and orofacial pain which can be termed as temporomandibular disorders or myofacial pain disorder syndrome. Dentist has a major role to diagnose such type of orofacial disorders. By restoring the normal functions of these three components the temporomandibular disorders can be treated. There are varieties of appliances mentioned in the literature to treat such disorders. In this book a conscious effort has been made with brief description of the all available appliance used to treat temporomandibular disorders.
