Bridging the gap between technology and needs have always been the most significant activity for industrial product development and industrial designers also. There is a need for designers to study and understand different design and development processes as industrial designer now a day have become an integral part of the development team. This work aims at discussing various design process practiced by industry till date and then tries to find out the most suitable design process which should be studied by designers. Then that process is implemented in an important area which is considered as the hottest technology for coming era. This thesis tries to bridge the gap between latest advances in thin film photovoltaic technology and India?s energy crisis. This work is a course of discussions about sustainability, green energy, solar energy, photovoltaic, different technologies present at the day in this field, their presence in India. Then the author has undertaken a user survey to understand the needs of the common people and finally a solution has been proposed through a process of ideation, technical design and industrial design.
