The United Nations Millennium Summit of September, 2000 noted, with concern, the global scourging and ravaging effect of HIV/AIDS and decided to include it as one of the eight Millennium Development Goals for control and possible eradication by 2015. The issue of HIV/AIDS and women?s health in this book is viewed in the context of the unraveling epidemic, the screening of women for HIV, and the hope for the future, though the battle against HIV/AIDS is far from being over. This book, however, focused on the effect of the deadly and most dreaded disease on pregnant women (and their unborn and delivered babies) who attended the Antenatal/PMCTC Clinic of General Hospital, Otukpo, Benue State Nigeria between 2006 and 2009.
