Ict Contribution for Quality Education in Universities: the Case of Addis Ababa and Adama Science & Technology Universities Girma Tamirat

This book is highly contributed for Ethiopian universities to assess the application of ICT in their universities to enhance quality education. The book identified major problems that hinder the universities to provide quality education fully supported by ICT. Some of these problems are inadequate on-line service, scarcity of ICT resources like ICT infrastructure, computer hardware, educational software, slow Internet connections due to low band width, and technical competence of ICT in the teaching learning activities. Thus, the book forwards practical solution to alleviate the problems of ICT integration in teaching & learning process in Ethiopian universities by applying e-teaching, on-line learning, video conferencing, available e-libraries and e-based encyclopedias, websites that permit a free download of educational materials, and facilitate internet access for staff and students. In order to provide such services, universities need to build strong ICT infrastructure and holistic information systems.
