Timely, adequate and cheap farm credit plays a crucial role in agricultural development. The credit needs of agricultural sector is met chiefly by informal and formal sources. The development of formal sources of credit is a basic condition for agricultural development and rural transformation as formal credit breaks the vicious circle of poverty and it encourages the utilization of modern technology in farm sector. Credit Cooperatives are the first and foremost institutional agency that entered into the agricultural finance. It has three-tier structure having PACS at grass root level, DCCBs at district level and SCB at apex level. In Andhra Pradesh, particularly East Godavari people attached to agriculture depends upon institutional credit. For that purpose DCCB, Kakinada was established in the year 1987 which is playing a significant role in providing adequate, timely and cheap credit to agriculture and allied sectors in the form of short-term and long-term loans. The credit extended by DCCB has a significant impact on the productivity, income levels, adoption of modern technology & employment generation of the beneficiaries.
