Bilingualism and Efl Vocabulary Learning: Second Language Versus Third Language Learning
Farzad Dibaj
Bilingualsim and EFL Vocabulary Learning analyses the effects of bilingualism on learning English as a foreign language. Bilingual students showed that they could learn new English words more effectively than their monolingual counterparts. These findings fill a gap in the literature by pointing to the shortcomings of extending the threshold hypothesis (Cummins, 1979) and its applicability to third language learning.
