This thesis aims to explore the clause structure of Pahari, within the framework of Chomsky?s (1995) Minimalist Program. Pahari belongs to the Indo-Aryan language family and can be categorized as a head-final language. I propose that like other South Asian languages, the unmarked word order in Pahari is SOV. It has a split ergative with ergative case markers used in the past tense and perfective aspect. The ergative marking is also related to some phonological grounds. Grammatical relations are indicated primarily by postpositions. The study also provides an introduction to the syntactic system employed in the language.
