Zimbabwe traditional dance occupy an important role in the culture and beliefs of the Shona people. Dance is part of everyday life. However as the culture is constantly changing, also the practices are adapting to the new changes in the society. Traditional dance has not been spared, it is changing but is still recognised as part of culture. Some of the traditional aspects of the dance has changed but movement still resemble dance during time immemorial. Therefore the book explain the influence of modernity in Zimbabwe traditional dances perfomed in or outside the country as a way of showcasing the heritage of the nation. Traditional dance is still perfomed mainly in rural areas and by the eldery. Majority of people had abandoned traditional dance as it is against Christian beliefs and considered backward.
