Violating the property rights of children is also violating different international human rights declarations and conventions as well as the Constitution and other local laws. This has its own implication in social work ideology and practice. Since children are vulnerable to various man made and natural circumstances, they need the support, care and supervision of adults. This, of course, is indispensable for their normal growth and development. However, due to various reasons, children are devoid of parental care. Such children need external support and protections as citizens and minors. It is because of this reason that children at global and national levels have legal protections. Children?s property and inheritance rights are at the high risk when parents especially die of AIDS and related illnesses partly because of stigma attached to the pandemic and also because orphans are more vulnerable to property grabbing by relatives, siblings and neighbors.
