Water Productivity of Closed and Capture Fishery Systems: a Case Study of Modhumoti Sub-basin

Recognizing the increasing importance of fish in coming days, a study was undertaken to determine the fish water productivity, to identify the probable causes of productivity variation along the sub-basin and to determine possible intervention to optimize water productivity of fisheries. The study recommended some important physical, technological and institutional interventions to overcome different constraints observed in Bagerhaat, Narail and Chuadanga. The recommended measures ranges from making quality fish fries available to the culture fisheries to improvement and management of fish habitat to establishing linkage between the market and fishermen that if followed is expected to result a sustainable outcome in fisheries sector in that part of the country.
