A reasonable environment is essential to support healthy living and high-quality of life. Most of the cities in Bangladesh are unplanned and the neighbourhoods of the city are unplanned without some exceptions. People prefer to live in planned area because of the provision of all necessary service facilities, community facilities and infrastructure. Planned area resembles efficient ecosystems in which inhabitants participate in exchange of matter and energy with their environment. Unplanned or organically grown neighbourhood expands disproportionately. The principal objectives of the study are to analyze built environment and land use pattern of planned and unplanned neighbourhoods.
