Evaluation of Soil and Crop Conditions on a Waste Dump Site
Salihu Danlami Musa
The conversion of waste dumpsites to agricultural plots is fast becoming popular in developing countries especially Nigeria because of its richness in essential nutrients. However, environmentalists have raised some concerns on the quality of crops from such plots since dumpsites are known to contain potentially harmful heavy metals and organic toxins. This work characterize soil of such dumpsites planted with Amaranthus caudatus with a view evaluating the contributory role of such soil for crop production.
