Despite decades of studies on adult pedagogy, no clear models are available to explain the processes of learning. The relationship between participatory adult pedagogy and thematic areas of education for sustainability is little understood. This book document the extent to which participatory adult pedagogy influence social change at community level. Using tree planting practice, the book highlights the influences of learning factors and teaching methods used to reach adult learners under local environmental action planning conditions. It further document learning outcomes, the integration of learning and practice, and effectiveness of pedagogy used. The findings are important in understanding informal adult learning and action, the role of participatory pedagogy in adult behaviour change and practice, redesigning or scale-up of pedagogic processes, and interpreting the politics of knowledge and power relations between the facilitator and the facilitated. The book contents are invaluable to researchers, practitioners and policy makers.
