Dendritic Cell-based Vaccine Strategies in Mtb Infection: Mathematical Modeling of Dendritic Cell-based Vaccination Strategies in Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Infection

Dendritic cells (DCs) are known to play a pivotal role in linking the innate and adaptiveimmune mechanisms. We study the effects of a Dendritic cell based vaccine in the fightagainst Mycobacterium tuberculosis. First a model without immune response is considered, then a model with T and CTL mechanisms, then a model with T, CTL and Dendritic cells and finally a model with a dendritic cell-based vaccine. From our model analysis, we conclude that the introduction of a cell-based vaccine can go a long way towards the effective control of the Mtb infection.
