This book presents a feasibility study of using biodiesel fuel blends in a gas turbine engine. The biodiesel is from palm oil blended with commercial diesel fuel and will be supplied directly into the combustion chamber without doing any modification to the gas turbine engine. This book will table the pros and cons of using biodiesel fuel in the gas turbine engine and their suitability for the engine. From literature study, palm oil biodiesel is a relatively clean-burning, renewable fuel that fits nicely into the current energy portfolio with little restructuring. It is also nontoxic, biodegradable, and has a higher flashpoint than diesel. This further reduces the greenhouse effect compared to conventional diesel. Palm biodiesel is a green fuel with zero carbon emissions meaning that carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas, which is emitted during the combustion using palm biodiesel is absorbed by the palm oil tree thus making it neutral. The use of biodiesel in gas turbines is getting popular and the promotion of palm biodiesel in a way forward since this type of fuel is renewable, thus making it a clever choice for alternative fuel replacing the delpeting fossil petroleum fuel.
