The possibility of achieving Gay Rights in most African countries is far from reality. Culture, tradition and religion are commonly used to justify the oppression of gay people. The question of whether gay rights are human rights is still debatable among legislators and academics. This has seen most homosexuals relegated to sub-human primates. There is even disagreement over the causative factors of homosexuality. It is often seen as a deviant and unnatural behavior and sometimes madness which must be stopped. Some people argue that it is un-African and those practicing it are mimicking the West. This book therefore traces the history of same sex contact in the pre-colonial Zimbabwe as well as the current trends. It also gives Social Work?s professional opinion on the subject.
