This book is a product of a hard work of the author and the motivation of fellow coleagues in the scholarly world. The challenge of plastic waste has been a persisting menace and thus this topic is worth documenting for posterity. The work focuses on the role of informal plastic waste recovery and its socio-economic procedures in the town of Kisumu city, Kenya. The city which is at the shores of Lake Victoria is thretened by waste pollution and other pollutants including the water hyacinth. It is hoped that as solutions for plastic waste in many countries are being sought, this book will be found invaluable as a refrence tool for policy makers, scholars and even administrators of waste managemnet in local authorities. Fear of the perceived and dangers of waste, have precluded society from making changes in the waste stream but the informal sector becomes handy for their role in recovery.
