In this investigation it has been found that plant density of 44 hills m-2 proved superior than 55 hills m-2 for grain yield. Among different weed management practices tried, application of butachlor provided effective control of weeds and improving rice yield. Weeds that would have escaped the effect of herbicides applied in the first week of transplanted rice, could be controlled by maintaining irrigation water continuously upto dough stage when weeds can no longer be a big threat to rice yield.
