The Essential Teacher Behaviours for Effective Classroom Management: the Hoshing-clarke Classroom Management Model
Jacqueline Hoshing-clarke
There are teachers who manage their classrooms effectively; this needs to be recorded so that others may be informed concerning the ?best of what exists? in order to improve their practice. The teaching-learning process has far reaching effects and can be used to impact all aspects of student life in a positive way. Quality teacher-student interaction can contribute extensively to helping students overcome the problems they face inside and outside the classroom which contribute to their behaviour. This author describes classroom management from two perspectives. The first originates from what research supported literature recommends and the second, from what is practiced in schools where there is successful classroom management. The focus is on the effective behaviours of the teacher and how they positively influence student behaviour. Effective teachers teach by doing; they consistently model the behaviours they desire their students to demonstrate, this is the major theme of this book. It is my hope that this work will significantly contribute to improved behaviours not only in classrooms but throughout society.
