New Polymeric Alloys As High Voltage Insulators

Polymeric insulators for outdoor use have become increasingly important and are expected to dominate in the future HV-outdoor applications. It has been reported that the polymeric insulators have performed better than porcelain and glass in laboratories and outdoor test sites. In this book a few kinds of binary and ternary blends of SIR, EPDM & PE with many different proportion were prepared and consequently the mechanical, electrical, environmental, rheological and dynamical properties and morphological behavior of them have been studied. Finally the best ternary blend have been selected and optimized for all properties requirement and economical point of view which should be especially useful to electrical insulation manufacturers or anyone else who may be considering the usefulness of polymeric insulators.
