Certain drugs having poor solubility, degradation in the alkaline pH, absorbed from the proximal part of Gastrointestinal Tract and causes irritation in the stomach. Due to this reason, drug should not achieve 100% bioavailability. To overcome these, Gastroretentive drug delivery system is a promising approach for achieving prolonged and predictable drug delivery profile. Floating drug delivery is an attempt which has been made to retained the drug in the stomach as a way of increasing retention time. Such type of novel drug delivery reduces the dosing frequency which is patient compliant and delivers active entity directly to the site of action. This book therefore provides formulation method for sustained release floating tablet by using hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymers by applying factorial design and this formulations are characterized by different In vitro evaluation tests and performed In vivo evaluation on human volunteers by X-Ray studies.
