Radio over Fiber (RoF) technique combines high capacity of optical fiber and mobility of cellular radio system for next generation speedy networks due to well known advantages like ultrahigh bandwidth, elimination of frequency congestion, low transmission loss, low power consumption and mobility to serve both fixed and mobile users. A bidirectional SCM-ASK model for RoF communication system that incorporates optical mm-wave generation and wavelength reuse for uplink connection has been proposed in this work. For short and medium distance RoF system, various parameters such as laser source power level (in dBm), laser linewidth (in MHz), number of RF channels and their frequency spacing, EDFA gain and power and MZM bias and modulation voltages should be carefully chosen for achieving minimum bit error rate (BER) and high Q-factor. A RoF system having 2-10 km radius (micro/macro cells) give excellent performance in the improvements of BER as well as Q-factor.
