Investigation of Defects in Ceramic Plates: Engobe / Glaze Chipping
Andre Paschoal
This work aims at investigating the causes of chipping on the engobe/glaze interface found on ceramic floor coating. This defect is found at the end of the production line and, in some cases, at the consumer's final part of a Braziliam Ceramic Company. To achieve the research's goal, the performance of the different structural layers of ceramic floor coating (substrate, engobe and glaze) were studied individually as a more precise appoach to accurate conclusions.
