This book examines the responses of academic staff of Makerere University Kampala to their roles in entrepreneurial environment. The analysis draws from empirical research carried out on Makerere University academic staff, supported by different perspectives, that is, disciplinary culture, organisational culture, and institutional theory. The study also sheds light on the academic staff opinion to the changes taking place in Makerere University. Higher Education institutions have fundamentally changed, as various transformations take place across the economy on a global plat form. In Uganda, changes such as privatization, liberalization have exposed higher education institutions to increasing number of students given open access to university education. Increasing students however, have not been matched with increased resources to cater for them. Tuition fees are still far below the unit cost. The implication is that higher education institutions are exposed to market forces and have to source for different channels of income to balance teaching, research and community service. Focal to all the roles of higher education institutions are academic staff.
