Defective Domains in Second Language Syntax: a Biolinguistic Approach
Moslem Ahmadvand
This book looks at the question of what second language learners know about syntax but could not have "learned", by investigating two defective sentential domains, namely Clausal Gerunds and TP-defective Gerunds. It is intended to offer an evidence for the biological study of human language, i.e. biolinguistics from the field of Second Language Acquisition by showing that even in the process of L2 acquisition there exist certain areas of syntactic knowledge that could not have been "learned". In the final chapter, a sketch of a biolinguistic theory of second language acquisition is offered by the author.
