This book presents a study of classroom exposure to oral pedagogic tasks in relation to Saudi learners' motivation and language performance. The main purpose of the study is to develop a better understanding of the role(s) that tasks may potentially play in the English language syllabus reform currently being carried out in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study also aims at investigating, at a micro level, the learners' task motivation in relation to different amounts of exposure to oral tasks, and to identify the aspects of tasks that the learners find motivating. This exploration of the relationship between tasks and learners' motivation and language performance should help designers of materials and curricula to understand better the potential of tasks for enhancing language learning in the Saudi context and elsewhere.
