Decentralization of Teacher Recruitment in Education in the Gambia
Adama Jimba Jobe
The recruitment of teachers in the Gambia is much centralized with bureaucratic bottlenecks and red tapes. This makes it very cumbersome and tedious for officers and teachers. This confirm by the findings in this research which reveals that there is complete centralization of teacher recruitment as shown that all teachers are posted to either the regional office for onward posting to schools or to schools directly from headquarters.
