Involving Children in the Design of Healthcare Technology: an Exploratory Approach
Matthew Allsop
Although children are potential end users of healthcare technology, very little research has investigated their role in its design. Subsequently, few guidelines and research methods are available for designers of healthcare technology to use in practice. This book outlines practical and theoretical considerations regarding the involvement of children in healthcare technology design. Alongside an overview of relevant literature, the book describes the identification and comparison of existing research methods for use with children. Predominantly, there is a discussion of interview methods alongside the design and implementation of a novel internet-based application. The book concludes with practical guidelines for conducting future research on healthcare technology within the primary school environment.
