The need for the animal model system to understand the physiology of a disease is imperative. The study to understand many genetic diseases is possible in Drosophila melanogaster. There are more than 400 diseased genes homologous to humans in fly. Therefore fly can serve as potential model system to delineate the mechanism of disease progression. It also gives an excellent system to perform large screens for the potency of the drugs to a given particular condition, thereby serving as a model system for drug screening as well. However to establish a disease model in animal is crucial. This book contains experiments to generate a model system for Epilepsy and exploring its inheritance. The gene expression analysis was performed to understand the role of specific gene which contribute to the drug induced locomotor alterations.
