The Rajaji elephants are the northern most Asian elephant population found in the wild. This is the first study that researched in detail, with the help of radio tracking, the elephant population found between the river Yammuna in the west and river Ganges in the east. Detailed investigations on the elephant population parameters, their ecological requirements, elephant-food tree interaction and patterns of human-elephant conflict were carried out as part of this study. This is the first study to measure important population parameters such as calf survival etc.. The book is divided into topic specific chapters and reader will be able to locate the main research findings with respect to each of topics listed above.
