Human Development, Governance, and Transition: an Empirical Analysis
Ariun-erdene Bayarjargal
Recently, the role of governance in the explanation of diverse outcomes of transition process is increasing. The mainstream economic literature studying effects of governance in transition countries has mostly focused on economic performances. A human development approach, considering not only income growth but also non-income dimensions of human development such as health and educational attainment has been largely neglected in an empirical literature of transition countries. It examines a relationship between human development and governance in transition countries using mixed model approach. The concept of humane governance guides the data collection and index construction efforts.
