English summary: From a historical point of view, the religious boundaries in Europe were not necessarily impervious, but they behaved more like barriers when they coincided with other borders. This perspective arises at a time when national borders are losing their importance as a consequence of globalization, such as the process European integration, which suggests that the effects of the development of international spaces also occurs in a religious sense. This book has as its goal the observation of the effects that literary, cultural, theological as well as urban-rural spaces have on the German as well as the Polish social system, especially in the special case of their common border regions. Common points of departure found in all of the contributions to this volume are issues about the role of religion in post-modern and post-secular societies, the process of modernization and theological concepts in change, and the present understanding of confessional identity in Poland and Germany. German description: Die religiosen Grenzen in Europa waren aus historischer Sicht durchaus nicht zwangslaufig undurchlassig, wurden jedoch zu Barrieren, wenn sie mit anderen Grenzen zusammenfielen. Damit stellt sich zu einer Zeit, in der nationalstaatlichen Grenzen im Zuge des Globalisierungs- wie des europaischen Integrationsprozesses an Bedeutung verlieren, die Frage nach den Auswirkungen der Entstehung transnationaler Raume auch im religiosen Sinne. Der vorliegende Band hat zum Ziel, Auswirkungen im literarisch-kulturellen, theologischen wie stadtisch-landschaftlichen Raum fur das deutsche wie das polnische Gesellschaftssystem, insbesondere im Spezialfall seines gemeinsamen Grenzlandes, zu betrachten. Gemeinsamer Ausgangspunkt aller Beitrage sind Fragen nach der Rolle der Religion in der postmodernen und postsakularen Gesellschaft, nach Modernisierungsprozessen und theologischen Konzepten im Wandel und nach dem gegenwartigen Verstandnis der kirchlichen Identitat in Polen und in Deutschland.
