Vernis Martin: Franzosischer Lack Im 18. Jahrhundert
Anne Forray-carlier
The name Vernis Martin has been a synonym for French lacquer art since the eighteenth century. Promoted to a generic term, it has come to stand for the lacquer decor of precious furniture and imposing coaches, and most importantly for that of small-format jewels that were produced in the Paris workshops by the four Martin brothers and their sons.
