Theoretical Investigation of Pv/t Using Various Backpipe Structures

One of the most challenges in using photo voltaic (PV) systems is the low energy conversion efficiency of PV cells and, furthermore, this efficiency decreases during the operational period due to the increase of the cells temperature above a certain limit. To increase the efficiency of PV systems one way is cooling them during the operation period and these temperature losses from the PV modules can be tapped in other applications. This work investigates the efficiency of PV modules by Finite Element Methods (FEM). Comsol Multiphysics program used to simulate a PV/T system with an active cooling system conducted to cool a fixed PV modules at which an absorbed system consists of different Materials, Shapes, and Diameters of pipes welded with aluminum plate is attached underneath the PV modules to allow water flow in the backside of it.
