The role of Social Network Sites (SNS) on tertiary students? interpersonal communication skills and ways of maintaining attachment need is investigated in the present study. SNS such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter have been widely used by the tertiary students. This study is unique in this area; studies have been conducted in interpersonal communication, attachment, and SNS but none looked at the combination of SNS, interpersonal communication, and attachment styles of users. EMU students are population of the study. Stratified random sampling procedure is used. An in-house questionnaire is administered to 121 undergraduate (freshman) students to collect quantitative data from all faculties and schools. Thus, it is based on quantitative methodology and is a case study of freshman students. The findings indicate that using SNS lead to the improvement of interpersonal communication skills and maintains attachment needs in a positive way. This study carries significant meaning for these areas, interpersonal communication, attachment, and SNS. In conclusion, tertiary students believe that SNS develop their interpersonal communication skills and maintain their needs of attachment.
