Bamboo is a multipurpose plant that can contribute for the development of a nation. Plating and expansion of the species, especially in potential bamboo growing areas of low income counties will alleviate poverty. Bamboo can be propagated both by vegetative method and using seeds. The long time interval in flowering and seed setting nature of bamboo makes use of seeds as propagation materials difficult. However, using seeds whenever they are available is a better option. But,research results with the seed characteristics of the species is very limited. This book describes the seed characteristics of one of bamboo species (Oxythenathera abyssinica). Many features of seed of the species are included. The book is good reference material both for research and development work.
