Corrosion and Corrosion Control of Tin in Organic Acids Solutions

The electrochemical behavior of tin is of interest due to its widespread technological application. A relatively large amount of work has focused on the electrochemical behavior of the metal in the presence of organic acids. These acids are naturally present in canned food and, therefore, they participate directly in the electrochemical, corrosion and/or passivation of the metal. The specific objectives of this book were to study the corrosion and electrochemical behavior of tin metal in organic acids solutions. We studied the electrochemical behavior of tin electrode in citric, n-butyric and crotonic acid solutions. The presence of various concentrations of the polyethylene glycol in different acids solutions has a great inhibition effect on tin corrosion.
