Dr. Jim Schnell (Ph. D., Ohio University, 1982) is a Professor of Social & Behavioral Sciences at Ohio Dominican University. He retired from the USAFR, at the rank of Colonel, after spending 30 years in the military intelligence community. His final 14 years were as an Assistant Air Force Attache to the U. S. Embassy in Beijing, China. Schnell is a Fulbright Scholar and has taught at Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati, Miami University, Ohio University and universities in China and Cambodia. He has completed three fellowships at the East-West Center in Honolulu. Schnell has 15 books in print, over 70 book chapters & journal articles and over 160 conference presentations. His teaching and research focuses on rhetoric as a form of social influence--to include varied forms of social movements and consciousness raising groups. This book addresses Greek lettered social organizations (college fraternities) as a form of consciousness raising group and specifically details variables that composed a representative 1970s era college fraternity with implication that it mirrored similar types of college fraternities that existed across the country at that time.
