The study aims to discuss gender-related metaphors in primary political discourse by analysing metaphorical expressions in Grybauskaite's and Obama?s speeches and reconstructing conceptual metaphors in terms of their ideological models. Research findings consist of four political speeches, i.e. Grybauskaite?s and Obama?s Inaugural Addresses (2009), Grybauskaite?s Annual Address (2012) and Obama?s State of the Union Address (2012). The research data is analysed in the theoretical framework of cognitive linguistics and conceptual metaphor theory, by procedurally applying Pragllejaz Group?s MIP (2007). The analysis has revealed insights, allowing to draw conclusions, that female and male politicians might tentatively choose different style of leadership to sound convincing and appropriate.
