The geology of the Benue Trough of Nigeria which is a failed arm of the rift-rift-fault (RRF) responsible for the separation of South America and African continents has been a subject of scientific and economic interest. A lot of work covering the area has been done but detailed work is still needed. The geology of the Gboko area, situated in the northeastern part of the Lower Benue Trough of Nigeria is the subject of this book. The study evaluates the relationship between syn-rift structures and sedimentation in the area. The sedimentological history spanning from Aptian to Coniacian with stratigraphic interpretations presented. Reactivation of NE ? SW faults and transpressional sinistral movement along NW ? SE faults during the Santonian resulted to deformation of sediments and formation of anticlinal structures. The book covers a subject matter of interest to earth scientists especially geoscientists interested in rift systems with their associated mineral deposits and the Benue Trough in particular. It would also prove useful to those interested in comparative studies of similar geological settings and a refreshing insight to the subject matter to geosciences students.
