Subsequent Pregnacies in Teen Parents Involved in Child Welfare

Much of the current research on preventing teen pregnancy suggests that merely understanding the responsibility of parenthood will lead to a delay in pregnancy. If knowing how difficult parenthood is was an effective prevention method, teens who are already parenting would not be at risk for subsequent pregnancies. Approximately 20% of teen parents involved in the child welfare system in Illinois experience a subsequent pregnancy prior to turning 21 years old. This book will examine the impact of several factors on subsequent pregnancies in teen parents involved in child welfare in Illinois. Among the factors examined is relationship stability among case managers, school personnel and caregivers.
