An emerging criticism to dizzying speed of life and an alternative life style: Slowness...has started in Italy and has been diffusing many places in the World by influencing many topics from food to tourism and from fashion to traffic. One of the concepts emerged with this movement is "Cittaslow". A story of the cities which object to the homogenization of globalization and which present their own style. Cittaslow (or Slow City), has been manifested in 1999 with the adaptation of slow food philosophy to city life and in the leadership of Carlo Petrini, who became the hero of slow food movement. Today, many destinations all over the world took action within the criteria set forth by International Cittaslow Association to assume the title of Cittaslow. This book was written in order to introduce Cittaslow deeper and to compare seven districts of Mu?la province, a world-known tourism destination, that have the potential of becoming a Cittaslow with an empirical analysis on the criteria set forth by the association.
