During the past two decades, the topic of brownfield regeneration has increased significantly due to the trend of sustainable spatial development. This also caused the need for efficient land use planning, stressing the importance of effective stakeholders? collaboration. Most literature deals with this topic in terms of the concrete examples of the brownfield regeneration process. However, this book provides an overview of the broader framework, i.e. institutional collaboration in such a process. The territorial scope of the research is the Danube macro-region. More precisely, the overview of spatial planning system, as well as the institutional and regulative framework of brownfield regeneration in Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Serbia is given. The analysis should help shed some light on the institutional support for brownfield regeneration as well as on new integrative policies in the domain of brownfield regeneration. This should be especially useful for the professionals in the field of spatial planning or any other planning practitioners who may be considering the importance of institutional collaboration in order to achieve effective brownfield regeneration.
