Early Removal of Catheter and Vaginal Pack After Vaginal Surgery
Priya Rajan
This study is a randomised controlled trial conducted in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, JIPMER. Prolonged catheterisation following vaginal surgeries caused urinary retention and urinary infection. This study was done in an attempt to study whether these complications were less with early removal of urinary catheter and vaginal pack. Traditional practice of removing the catheter and vaginal pack in 24 hours was compared with removal in 3 hours. The resulting complications were analysed.
