We will focus particularly on traceability in the food industry, which is currently component of ensuring food safety. In the food chain, traceability means the ability to trace and follow a food, feed, food producing animal or substance through all stages of production and distribution. Many manufacturing systems, including food manufacturing, have sought registration to the ISO 9001 Quality Standards.
