The Ethiopian health care system like many of the developing countries deprived of infrastructural organization, health manpower and access to health care. Therefore application of Information Communication technology(ICT)on health and the use of telemedicine gave hopes to fill some of these gaps by creating access, increase quality, and generally improving primary health care interventions. This book analyzes the challenges, successes and failures encountered in setting up and implementing a telemedicine pilot program in Ethiopia between 2004 and 2006, comparing its outcome with the ones of other similar projects in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) through a literature review, and it provides possible recommendations for developing telemedicine strategies in countries with limited resources.
