Obesity has become a leading cause of preventable death and a major cause of morbidity and disability. It is a risk factor for various chronic diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Obesity is now at the point where the World Health Organisation has declared it a global health priority. Bariatric surgery may be a solution as it leads to significant weight loss in the obese patient. This book examines the effects of lifestyle modification after bariatric surgery, including exercise, diet and meal frequency. It explores the current evidence from the literature and presents new evidence from randomised controlled trials. It provides a significant contribution to the post-surgical literature on surgically-induced weight loss.
